Two disciplines most people keep separate. I work across both — shipping web products that feel immediate, on infrastructure I can trace end to end when they do not.
01About
Most bugs I have chased did not live in the code. They lived in a misconfigured route, a saturated uplink, an MTU nobody thought about.
I started on the network side — switches, VLANs, routing tables, the unglamorous work of keeping packets moving. Then I got tired of handing off to a frontend that undid all of it with a 4 MB bundle, so I learned to build that too.
Now I do both. I care about the same thing in each: latency you can feel, failure modes you planned for, and systems a stranger can read six months later without calling you.
When I am not working, I am usually breaking a home lab on purpose to find out what happens.
